Before I hop into the forecast, I’d love to trace over some of the things that have been happening over the last couple of weeks to emphasize the predictive power of astrology. Just as anyone with a decent sense of what was going on astrologically knew that something dramatic and heavy was going to happen in early 2020, we also knew that the last couple of weeks were going to be crazy, even if the concrete manifestations weren’t obvious.
As I said on July 6th: “…this is a couple of weeks in which we can expect shakeups and radical changes on the world stage. These two [Uranus and Mars] have been in a whole-sign conjunction since June 9th, and beyond the elections in Europe, which are shifting their political landscape, I think the sudden swing of opinion about Biden’s fitness for office aligns well with the themes at play. Interestingly, this Uranus-Mars conjunction is happening in Biden’s 6th house, which has to do with matters of health. This is also opposing his Sun, which suggests that this energy really feels directed at him (and not in support of him). Saturn is also at the bottom of his chart and opposing his Midheaven, so it makes sense that it’s a very serious and heavy moment for him. Strikingly, this Uranus-Mars conjunction is happening at Trump’s Midheaven, and so far, it looks like it’s a boon for him. With Trump’s Sun-Uranus conjunction, he has a way of spinning any shake-up to his advantage.”
Amidst all of this, I personally didn’t catch the specifically violent nature of the Mars-Uranus conjunction for Trump, and I think I underestimated the power of the Full Moon in the last degree of Capricorn, conjunct Pluto, which happened this morning just before Biden posted his announcement. It’s a moment that I’m actually shocked at how literally astrology can play out.
There were actually a couple of folks on Astro-twitter who correctly predicted that something specifically violent would happen to Trump - and yet, I think my assessment of him spinning shakeups to his advantage checks out. Likewise, as I mentioned, knowing that Jupiter is so close to Kamala Harris’ ascendant made it more clear that she would be a likely replacement for Biden. Gavin Newsom is also undergoing a major moment, although it makes also sense that a running mate from a battleground state would be chosen for Kamala.
I also want to emphasize that, now that we’re on the flip side of the Full Moon conjunct Pluto and the Mars-Uranus conjunction is waning (Mars being in Gemini), the next major moment on the horizon is in mid-August, which is during the Democratic National Convention. On top of a Full Moon in a T-Square with Uranus at the midpoint of Mercury’s retrograde, that day is the first exact square between Jupiter and Saturn, and Mars will have made a conjunction with Jupiter a couple of days previously. Venus will be in a T-Square with these three.
It’s really unusual for such a dramatic setup to occur, with all of the seven traditional planets in hard aspect to each other, with a T-Square to Uranus on the Full Moon to boot. The only ways it could get more intense would be if the Full Moon were also a Lunar Eclipse and Pluto and Neptune were more involved—although these two are currently in a strong sextile and also aspecting Uranus, which is one element of the transformational gesture of 2025-2026.
And this setup in mid-August isn’t just a fleeting hectic moment, either—the Jupiter-Saturn square is the defining feature of the second half of the year. Archetypally, we can imagine this as Saturn clamping down with hard restrictions on Jupiter’s exuberance, optimism, and expansive spirit, which was really, really ramped up this spring with the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction. Our era’s most established financial astrologer, Ray Merriman, thinks it’s a signal for a recession, and he assesses that we’re overdue for one.
On a broader level, it’s a time where hope might feel harder to find, where clarity and coherence feel like a struggle, and in which we need to adapt and adjust according to the mutable nature of the signs Jupiter and Saturn are in. The Jupiter-Saturn square will partially recede in intensity into October, but it will come back with force at the end of the year, alongside Mercury’s retrograde in Sagittarius. We’ll get a third wave of it early next summer, alongside Saturn’s conjunction with Neptune at the first degree of Aries.
