Hey Folks -
Excuse me for being a bit late in getting this forecast out - after spending last week in Tbilisi, Georgia, my partner and I got home and promptly got sick. Moods and energy are raising with the growing moon, though, so I thought I’d take a good look at the couple of weeks ahead.
This will be a time of turning points, as Venus will appear as a Morning Star and end her retrograde, and Mercury will start theirs. We’ll also see the Sun and Mars changing signs and Jupiter starting their retrograde. Altogether, it will be a somewhat hectic late summer, with changes in concrete conditions and preparations for new phases taking precedence over the happy-go-lucky and restful side of summer.
The Mercury retrograde, unfolding from August 23 till September 14, is particularly central, as this is unfolding in one of Mercury’s own signs, Virgo, and begins the day that the Sun enters Virgo. As Mercury retrogrades relate to rearrangements, reconsiderations, and the literal closer presence of Mercury, a god of tricks and magic, to our earth, this unfolding in Virgo portends a lot of reshuffling. Especially if you know what needs a good amount of combing, reorganization, and perhaps a couple of doses of supernatural assistance, this can be a time period of a lot of progress. It’s happening in my 3rd house of writing, communication, and learning - a realm where I have altogether too much I want and need to do right now, and I’m hopeful that the next few weeks will help me parse through and get a grip on that world of overgrowth and opportunity. It’s definitely worth taking a look at where Virgo falls in your chart to get a sense of the central foci of this retrograde - feel free to reach out for support in that. More on the retrograde below!
Before I get to the play-by-play, I wanted to announce that Olivia Pepper and I will be hosting another rendition of Charting the Artist’s Way this fall, from October 6 - December 22. The first round this spring went spectacularly - we hope you can join us! More information on that is at starpoetry.net.
I also thought I’d mention that I have a couple of new articles out over at Das Goetheanum: “Sports and Magic” (on the magical moment of the Spurs winning the rights to draft Victor Wembanyama) and a reflection on Everything Everywhere All at Once and its relationship to Rudolf Steiner’s concept of the “Consciousness Soul Era”.
Now, here’s the monthly play-by-play, for my lovely paid subscribers:
