Happy New Moon and start of Gemini Season, folks :)
We’ve just had a big week, with Jupiter entering Taurus and Mercury stationing direct, so I thought I’d start with a little Rückshau (review).
I felt Jupiter’s entry into Taurus as a sort of weightiness, which was literal and somatic for me, dealing with jetlag coming back to Switzerland and feeling much more taxed while taking my first run in the past couple of months (when Jupiter was in Aries, and I was always surprising myself with my strength). I’ve also been seeing signs of my own excess, recognizing that Jupiter in Taurus can have quite an apatite and can sometimes be slow-moving, although this could certainly change with Mercury picking up speed over the next couple of weeks. A phrase that I was repeatedly sharing with regard to approaching this spring was, ‘getting yourself in rhythm,’ or ‘finding our groove,’ which feels to me like the capturing of Jupiter in Aries into momentum. This week, too, has a lot to do with how we translate our higher impulses into the everyday.
I also felt like I received a huge gift this past week — my hometown basketball team, the San Antonio Spurs (who take on a larger-than-life stature in my psyche — I dream about them a lot), won the first pick in the NBA draft lottery and the rights to select the most spectacular prospect in a generation, if not of all time: the 7’4” Victor Wembanyama from France. I had set my iPhone lock screen to a prayer candle of him, and it seems the rest of the city was joining me in putting as much magic as we could into winning him for the city. Apparently, he’s also a Spurs fan, so perhaps the magic was just encouraging a perfect fit. Altogether it’s an amazing story - I’m writing a piece on it, which will either appear in the Weekly Journal, Das Goetheanum, or on this Substack.
Next, a couple of notes from last week’s post on things happening now:
The Sun entered Gemini today (Sunday), around 2am CST. This lifts us a bit out of the grounded Taurus energy and more up into the light, breezy energy of summer, although Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, will still be in Taurus until June 11th. This would be a great month for short trips, for forays into exciting and interesting realms, for conversations with curious folks, to ask yourself novel questions, and to delight in a wide range of tastes, forms of movement, and experiences. The Sun will immediately enter a trine with Pluto late Sunday morning. As a part of a long series of Pluto aspects, this could actually act as an illuminating force, insofar as further recognition or clarity might be needed. The Sun can act as a warming, brightening influence, here especially taking place within our minds (Gemini). The Sun can also act as a burning or blinding influence, so you might guard against getting too puritanical in combating something that feels dangerous or poisonous.
This afternoon, the Moon will have a square with Neptune — at 5:11pm CST, after which she will go Void of Course. This will be a great evening to try to rest and zone out. With the Moon in Gemini, that might look like time on the interwebs, or enjoying a favorite show or bit of reading. The square with Neptune in this context may feel blustery or confusing emotionally, in contrast to the intense clarity of thought that might be present with the Sun’s trine to Pluto. Rest is likely the best solution to let things coalesce!
Tonight (Sunday) at 10:28pm, the Moon will enter Cancer, where she’ll stay until Wednesday morning. This describes a spirit of focusing on nourishment, ease, and cozy connection. Taking care of things around the house, doing inner/emotional work. Spending quality time in nature, taking a fluid, soft approach to everyday tasks. The Moon is very much at home in Cancer, and her time there can be illuminating of our inner world.
The Sun sextiles Mars: Monday, 12:56am, which is a transit ramping up the week before and down the week after. This brings extra excitement and energy to our curiosities and loosens up tight egoism. A great time to engage in play and playful creativity — a very bright, warming, and generative energy, even as the intense energy of Pluto is also present as a contrast in the background. Perhaps not the best time to get into a battle of wits or personalities, but banter could be fun in a non-volitile context.
Moon trine Saturn: Monday, 11:23am - a time to get work in on something serious, especially if it feels emotionally resonant and mature. A decently heavy vibe. A good time for spiritual work or giving labor to some idealistic cause. A little bit of a contrast to the previous Sun/Mars aspect, emphasizing a sort of spaciousness. The two would integrate through artistic play or exploration, or creating a sort of open, reverential stage for something dramatic or passionate to unfold.
Moon sextile Mercury: Monday 2:06pm — an afternoon for a quick trip or taking care of small tasks. A good time to engage in conversation, thought, reading, or writing. Mercury is still slow here, so setting an easy pace for yourself could be great.
Mars square Jupiter: Tuesday, 12:12am CST. A fighting spirit, but might be best to avoid conflict. Especially with each of these planets in fixed signs, the potential that things could get stubborn or quite tense is strong. Pluto is still very much hanging out in the background, which suggests that we’re also still fighting against fear, uncertainty, and dangerous elements at play, which can certainly intensify this friction. The Sun’s light in Gemini can ease things up here, especially if we open up our mind to novelty and navigate with flexibility.
Moon conjunct Venus: Tuesday, 7:44am: a romantic, sweet, and cozy transit. A morning to nourish and treat yourself, and reconnect with a desire to have joy and pleasure be a part of your everyday life. A great time to freshen up around the house, connect with loved ones, and give extra care and creativity to food/nourishment.
Moon sextile Uranus: Tuesday, 1:07pm - an aspect encouraging experimentation and spontaneity. With the Moon in Cancer and Uranus in Taurus, this is likely to focus on our everyday, material life. This aspect could also reveal things going on around the house that are unexpected problems, or be illuminating of inner dynamics, especially around resources and values.
Moon trine Neptune: Wednesday, 4:11 am. The Moon then goes Void of Course till 9:43am. Descriptive of an extra-dreamy morning, perhaps showing a need for extra sleep or just staying spacious for a couple of hours before starting the day. A morning where being rushed or hectic could turn things nightmarish, so be gentle with yourself. Might be best to hold off on really pushing the effort or caffeine until the Moon enters Leo, when there should be a burst of energy.
Moon in Leo: Wednesday, 9:43am - Friday, 10:04pm CST. A time for creativity, to cultivate warmth, bravery, and strength. Especially at the start, the Moon enters into an intense set of aspects, which could require a good deal of tact. Themes at play could harken back to tricky energies from the weekend, especially Friday and Saturday. These aspects can super-charge whatever you want to put energy towards — in this case, probably best to be focusing on solo work and avoiding volatile behavior. Getting some physical movement in might be great, but don’t push yourself too hard and overdo things.
Moon opposite Pluto: 10:03am - a peak moment of intensity, encounter with fears, shadows, and scarcity. Perhaps one of the more stressful moments of the week, which could spill over into the VoC period before. If things are really harsh, you might rely on tried and true stress-busting techniques, or figure out ways to converse with these struggles - journaling, breathwork, talking with a confidant, or just a small walk. The Moon in Leo opposing Pluto in Aquarius can relate to our individual struggles in the midst of big external changes — how does the hero/ine in your story adapt?
Moon square Jupiter - 1:12pm. Here, the challenge is more about reaching after expansion or abundance, without falling into excess or decadence. Could be great to zoom out, see the big picture, and articulate/take small steps towards your goals. A midday moment of expansion could be in order. Connecting to a teacher/person you admire, remembering wise ideas that keep you light and aspiring.
Moon conj Mars - 2:20pm. A time of putting in effort on something. A burst of physical energy. Our first really good taste of Mars in Leo, which will last till July 10th. Where is strength growing, seeking to flex and challenge itself? What is wanting to come through you strongly? This could show up as anxiety or an excess of heat in the body — thus, finding some way to spark yourself into action and get energy moving could be great. Again, there’s also a risk of getting the flame burning too high - aim for getting things in a steady flow.
Moon square Mercury: Thursday, 5:10am — needing to adjust your thinking, maybe about yourself. A conversation between your bright idealism and its reserves of resources. Clarifying what sustains and supports you. Taking stock, and taking small steps to sustain yourself.
Moon square Uranus: Friday, 1:38am. Moon then goes VoC for a long time - till 10pm. The previous night could feel electric, and this could be disruptive for sleep. A time to listen for outside the box thinking, to articulate experiments you’d like to make, to see how you might open up to spontaneity.
Venus sextile Uranus: Friday, 2:36am. Continues themes about experimentation and following excitement, especially socially, romantically, and creatively. Looking for possibility, probing after new fronteirs. With Venus in Cancer, this could especially look like something rearranging in the home, or in your everyday arrangement of time and energy. Listening for where there might be a connection wanting to be made, looking for the right place and moment for something enlivening. A transit that will wax and then wane for a few days on either side.
Moon in Virgo: Friday 10:04pm - Monday, 9:50am CST. A time of focusing on basics - keeping things clean, orderly, well functioning. A good time to be diagnosing and discerning, figuring out what’s awry and what you can do to remedy something. A good time to rely on practices, routines, rhythms. All in all, a weekend oriented towards the everyday and mundane, although hopefully with a good deal of levity and grace. During this time period we’ll have our First Quarter Moon, and the square between the Sun and Saturn will perfect - altogether a challenging weekend, but mostly oriented on crafting the everyday.
Moon trine Jupiter: Saturday, 2:52am. A call towards expansion thru the everyday. Seeking after more intricacy and richness in the material world. Developing/educating your taste and values. Navigating resources in a more wise manner.
Moon square Sun - the First Quarter Moon - Saturday, 10:22am. A stressful aspect, calling us to action in following through with this month’s dreams. Something breaking out of the ground after gestating for a while. A call for courage, initiative, and responsibility.
Moon opposite Saturn: Saturday, 11:52am. The heaviness and seriousness of life making itself known. Resistance ramping up. A need to train yourself, to develop your capacity for developing momentum and following through on your ideals. Pushing back could be necessary, but seriously slowing down for a spell could also be great. Saturn in Pisces is shaping our conscience - consult it.
Moon trine Mercury: Saturday, 10:07pm: much more of a light-hearted energy. More of a time for things to flow quickly and easily. Could be a fun night for connection, novelty, or play. Mercury doesn’t want to get bored, so don’t invite them to play tricks on you by being too too stubborn or serious. Liven up your everyday.
Sun square Saturn: Sunday, 5:45am — A time period to give yourself more shape and form. Focusing on details, defining your thoughts, ideals, aims, and figuring out how you can live them out. Could bring some seriousness to mind, but it could also stir up some of your spiritual questions, bringing new perspectives or even turning things around a bit.
Moon trine Uranus: Sunday, 2:11pm: A moment where spontaneity and excitement will likely flow with ease. Could be a great afternoon for a small trip, some time in nature, or simply exploring more majesty in your everyday. Try something new!
Moon sextile Venus: Sunday, 7:19pm: A sensual aspect, emphasizing the integration of pleasure, creativity, and connection into your everyday. A time for a favorite record, dish, or social constellation.
Moon opposite Neptune: Monday, 4:45am. Moon then goes VoC till 9:50am. Another one of these super dreamy mornings, in which sleeping in or having an easy-going morning might be the best option.
Finally, another experiment with something new this week: Steiner’s Calendar of the Soul.
Week 7 (translation my own):
My Self threatens to fly away
Lured by the world’s glamour.
Come now, Intuition,
Claim your proper power,
Substitute Thought’s might,
which in sensory illusion
inclines to lose itself.
